The 2012 Jeannette Rankin “Courage to Run” Awards & Reception on Saturday April 21 is being held by the National Women’s Political Caucus of California (NWPC CA)  at the Skirball Center from 6:30-8:30 PM.

Special guests, electeds & invited individuals include: Kamala Lopez, filmmaker & producer of ‘A Single Woman’, (the feature film on Jeannette Rankin’s life), Honorable Debra Bowen, Secretary of State, Honorable Betsy Butler, Honorable Judy Chu, Melissa Fox, Honorable Wendy Greuel, Honorable Lindsey Horvath, Honorable Beth Krom, Honorable Abbe Land, Honorable Holly Mitchell and Honorable Betty Yee, among others.

The Jeannette Rankin ‘Courage to Run’ Awards honor progressive women candidates who have run for elected office in California and demonstrated extraordinary courage, tenacity, and leadership during their campaigns. Honorees are nominated by NWPC CA caucuses and/or affiliated organizations.

The purpose of the Jeannette Rankin Reception is to raise $50K so NWPC CA can continue the important work to recruit, educate and train progressive women candidates, which NWPC has been doing for 40+ years. This is critically important because women and women’s rights are under severe attack, and the number of attacks is increasing.
