NWPC CA-endorsed Democratic candidate Janice Hahn defeated Republican Craig Huey in the bitterly contested special election to fill Jane Harman’s vacated seat in California’s 36th District. The race made national headlines when a viciously racist and misogynist attack ad was released by a conservative PAC. Huey denied any involvement and denounced the ad. Hahn received 54.56% of the vote to Huey’s 45.44%.

Hahn’s is the second special election victory so far this year for Democrats, coming just two months after Kathy Hochul defeated the frontrunner Republican Jane Corwin in New York’s 26th Congressional District.
