The National Women’s Political Caucus of CA, together with California Women Lead, Leadership California, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality, The California Commission on the Status of Women and the Black Women Organized for Political Action, is a supporting organization of the upcoming California Women’s Appointment Project.
The goal of the project is to bring to the new governor and transition team the names and resumes of women interested in serving in the new administration to bring a significant pool of qualified women to serve as appointees.
“With the upcoming reapportionment of elected seats, California’s governor, elected November 2, will make over 3,000 appointments,” said NWPC-CA President Teray Stephens. “Fifty percent of those appointments should go to qualified women.”
Kickoff events will take place in Sacramento and Los Angeles on August 26th, 2010. Details TBA.
